Latest ‘challenge’
So we’ve discovered that we have a nest of these fun little bastards
up somewhere in our attic and are crawling out through a hole near one of our living room windows. Started notice them flying about a few weeks ago and noticed where they were going last week and Kevin had an ‘encounter’ with one last night..
But wait.. it gets worse…
But probably the funniest thing about it all was the little ritual I went through today while I was working when one came in the office with me.. My GOD I can be such a baby when it comes to this kind of stuff. Sitting next to me now are many long poking instruments which I attemted to use to get it to fly out the window, a spatula (the closest thing I could find to a fly swatter), and a number of clothing items (which I was planning on throwing at it in mid air).
Ultimately it landed on the window and I quickly opened the window trapping it between the two panes… Unfortunately at that point not only did I have a trapped and really pissed of yellow jacket looking at me square in the eyes – but i also had a window that was wide open right next to the nest of the rest of them… So I tried to open the window enough to scare it down so it would fly out the open window… Well that just pissed it off more and it had an out.. So it flew straight down, back in the room, and behind my desk… Little fucker was pissed off and messing with me (actually probably laughing at me as I stood on the desk squealing.. but still)… Finally it crawled up the back of the desk and onto the window sill at which point I slammed the window on his little head…
How is that for an elaborate tail of one of my nelliest moments! 😉
And we still have a nest of ’em waiting for us… Nother weekend job I guess..

i hate those things! the anticipation of them stinging you when you’re trying to get them out of the house is just far too much to handle. did you feel like something was crawling on you for the rest of the day?
If this was happening to me. It would involve a hotel room. And me staying there.
Britain weeps, for somewhere across the Atlantic, a little Yellow Jacket has suffered the ultimate tragedy of unrequited love.
Yup… felt crawley all afternoon – AND I had the nagging suspician that they were formulating a revenge plan in the nest for the death of their buddy… They’re gonna attack us in our sleep – I just know it! 😉
What a tragic ending for that poor Yellow Jacket. 🙁 I usually reserve that kind of evil death for cockroachs or (very rarely) Black Widows. But, hey, you did what you had to do.
The little begger was lookin at me funny… He shouldn’t have done that! 😉
When I was a child I remember we had a hornets’ nest in our coal bunker. My dad got a blow-torch, aimed it at their entrance/exit hole, and turned it on. Then we no longer had the problem.
Have you got a blow-torch?
Ohhh… And an excuse to use a blow torch too.. Damn… When does the fun stop? :)… And in a COAL bunker.. I’m not sure I even know what a coal bunker is! 🙂 COOOOOOOL…. 😉
Then again – I think a few of the others here would have a problem with me torturing the little beasties! Aparently there are already tears in england! 😉
‘Dem yeller jackets is da debil!
Oh, my hell. I can handle just about anything…except those demonic flying inflictors of pain and suffering. *shudder*
