Some Semblance of Normalcy

So i’m finally trying to get my blog put back together after the great hack of 2005. I just re-installed MT for the umteenth time (this time just because there wasn’t anything left in the old blog aside from the content that I needed to preserve). They just updated MT to MT 3.2 which seems pretty decent and they added the ability to easily swap ‘themes’ from a library which is pretty damn cool.. Only problem I had with it was the install instructions which are pretty poorly written – they should go back to the step by step instructions that they had before…

Anyway… Things seem to be up and running again… If you run into any trouble let me know…

Mail Tags

Just some geek stuff to pass along.. If any of you are using Mac OS X mail on Tiger I thought I’d pass along this cool little tool I found… A coworker passed along a link to a Mail plugin called Mail Tags which allows you to tag mail messages with things like projects, date due, and other comments. It then allows you to use spotlight to search and categorize them based on these tags.. I find this really handy because it lets you basically file and annotate mail messages…

Anyway.. Had to share… 🙂

Video Projects

Uggggg… So one of our latest assignments for work is to create a ‘project’ using our products so that all of the engineering team understands how end users use our product – its a VERY good idea so we understand the ins and outs of the product from an end user’s perspective. Unfortunately there is one critical thing missing here – creative ability. Our customers are incredibly talented and creative people and I don’t have a creative bone in my body. So i’m REALLY struggling to put something together that is even remotely cool… *sigh*.. ah well.. Just figured I’d share… and if anyone has any ideas on what I could do for a short video just let me know.. (keep it clean folks! ;))

Where I’ve been

In case you’ve been wondering where I’ve been and why I’ve been such an anti-social freak for the last few months.. I can now talk about it – we announced Final Cut Studio last Sunday and I’ve been at NAB in Las Vegas showing it off. In particular I was involved heavily in Final Cut Pro, LiveType, and Cinema Tools as well as the integration between FCP and Soundtrack Pro. I won’t go into all the coolness thats in there – you can read more about it on Apple’s Site.. But suffice it to say its full of coolness… And i’m kinda proud of it – its my baby! 🙂

Blogon

Ok… Just read about this over here. I don’t know why but this kinda makes me sad. A conference on blogging.. I suppose it makes sense and its all fine but it just feels like mainstreaming and corpratizing of a kinda cool underground type thing. Not that big a deal really and probably inevitable.. But it kinda makes me long for the days when all of this technology was moved forward by folks who did things they thought were cool rather than cuz it made good business sense. Suppose that dates me huh?

Ah well.. I’ll shut up… 😉
