British slang

I’m one of these odd balls that has to have the radio or tv or some type of noise going while I work… Don’t know why – just makes it easier to keep my butt planted and makign progress. Today’s selection is ‘Beautiful Thing‘ – great movie and the music is good to hum along to as I work. Anyway – caught a line with the term ‘slag’ in it and realized I didn’t know what it meant.. Could figure it out based on context but wanted to be sure… well thanks to google I found this – and now I know along with alot of other fun terms…

I am the same way about noise when I work. Unfortunately, sometimes I get so distracted I don’t hear the noise and then a soap opera comes on nice and loud right around the time a client calls. I hate that. Or Oprah–when a client calls during Oprah it makes me want to die.

That looks like a really good site, I have to say – but the one thing missing is ironically a decent definition of ‘slag’! How funny! Yes, it’s a verb, as stated on the site, but it’s also a noun for someone who sleeps around a lot. Try reading about the ‘Fat Slags’, for instance, at http://www.viz.co.uk – they’re great!
