Don Knotts: 1924-2006
US comedy star Knotts dies at 81
US actor Don Knotts, who won five Emmys for playing a bumbling deputy sheriff in comedy The Andy Griffith Show, has died in a Los Angeles hospital aged 81.
Between Barney Fife and Mr. Furley I’ve got many childhood memories from this guy!
A Weekend in LA
This last weekend Kevin and I decided to head down to LA to explore. I had an all day meeting in Santa Monica on friday so we decided to take advantage of that and spend the weekend… Weekend started off a little rocky because of weather – Kevin’s flight got delayed from 9:20pm friday night until 2am at which point he bailed and decided to come back the next morning. But from that point on it was great..
Once he got in we dropped his luggage off at the hotel and went to see an exhibit called ‘Ashes and Snow‘ at the Santa Monica Pier…. REALLY COOL temporary exhibit that is a mixed video and still media presentation… I HIGHLY recommend it if you can make it down that way… We then spent the rest of the afternoon doing random tourist stuff which was fun too… We went to the new Disney concert hall in downtown LA – it was cool but really kinda typical for Gehry’s architecture and pretty similar to the Experience Music Project in Seattle… We also checked out MOCA while we were in the area – comic book art was just OK but the rest was VERY cool..
Saturday night we hung out with Stephen – just had dinner in Marina Del Rey near his house and then went to see Brokback Mountain (we all just kinda wanted to see it again and it was raining so sounded better than the other options)..
Sunday we had lunch with Kevin’s friend Steven at Basix in West Hollywood which was really nice (both hanging out with Steven and the place)… After that we went on a driving tour of Bel Air and Hollywood… Sunday night we had a dinner to ourselves for a late Valentines day dinner… Was really nice…
Overall a great trip despite a few hiccups… 🙂
Freaky Mutant Elk
Oh – and this is the elk.. Look closely.. That elk has one horn in the right place and the other square in the middle of his forehead! Zoinks.. poor thing…
Lickin
This past weekend Kevin and I flew out to Colorado to surprise my little sis for her birthday. Weekend was a little too short but a lot of fun. We got in late friday night and then dropped in on her at around midnight (thanks to her boyfriend Nick’s scheeming) and surprised her in her bunny slippers (or – rather – snow man slippers)…
The next morning we got up and had brunch and then spent the rest of the day driving up in the mountains. We went up Flagstaff mountain first to show Kevin the view of Boulder. After that we headed up to Estes park and saw a freaky Elk with mutant horns (see the flickr photos for more)…
Saturday night we went out to dinner with our brother Jason and his wife Jacki at a restaurant near our hotel – after that we had WAY too much to drink at the bar in our hotel (the St. Julien).. Was a lot of fun as you can see by the picture…
Sunday we had a hangover lunch and then went out to Erie Colorado to see Jason and Jacki’s new house as well as Jacki’s mom’s new house…
We then ended the night with dinner with Katie and Nick and crashed early so we could make a REALLY EARLY flgiht back today..
Weekend was a LOT of fun – sometimes I really miss Boulder and REALLY enjoyed spendin time with Katie and Nick…
Me and Kevin
This was one of the pictures in a collection of pictures we took over the weekend while we were in Colorado.. Thought it was a cute one of us so I figured I’d share! 🙂
Don’t be a Dumb ass
I’m sorry.. I know I’m biased.. But this just pisses me off… For christ sake – just turn the damn things down.. Its not like they don’t have a volume dial on them. When I notice its too loud thats what I do. These people shouldn’t be pissed at Apple – they should be pissed at their Mothers for not telling them to turn their music down when they were in high school. I distinctly remember mine doing that more than once (I also remember blowing out the speakers on our Ford Probe – but thats another story)…
I’m sorry – but people shouldn’t be able to sue because they can’t use common sense.
Happy friday! 🙂
